Introduction

Intro to WeUs

Another school year just started, and WeUs Magazine is back again. This is the first issue of the semester, and we hope that we can give you our best, just like what we did before. We are composed of 14 talented students and 2 responsible supervisors. We are a creative magazine club that publishes SPAS students’ original artworks, stories, poems, photographs, personal articles, etc. We encourage, promote, and try our best to improve creativity and ingenuity. Don’t be unnerved by the thought of “What if my work is horrible.” WeUs can help you to steer clear of many subtle mistakes and improve your work together. Hope you can submit a piece of your work for our publication.

The idea of our name is originated from two words: We and Us. Everyone in SPAS is a different and special individual who works very hard in our own field to make our life meaningful. WeUs want to include everyone to be part of a group, a team, an “us.” Maybe we are all mediocre beings, but together, we can make some gigantic achievements. Thereby, WeUs has been found on behalf of not only ourselves but also all students endowed with talents and dreams.

Intro to this month

When the national holiday comes, the red flag rises like gauze in the azure sky. As international students, the flag is so flimsy that it barely veils the truth of we are all going to leave our homeland. Most of us are going to study abroad in the not distant future. Some are exultantly looking forward, some are wistfully sighed. While we peer out the window, the only placebo we can find is our sense of belonging. We all belong to something. Maybe our homeland, maybe our families, maybe the dream that we longingly hope to fulfill in the future. Those senses are the silver linings that keep us from demoralization and abandonment. The real question is, have you find your sense of belonging?

For this year, some of our old members are no longer on the campus and working with us here, and there are, as well, new members who just joined this WeUs family and are fully prepared to begin our new journey along with all of us. However, all of us, old or new members, belong to this family—WeUs. This theme carries our hope for the coming semester and shows our attitude towards the school, the family, and our friends. We hope you all are doing well in this new school year, and remember, We are a family, all of Us Belong to this family.

WeUs has chosen belonging as the monthly theme. We will feature two artists and contrast their life in the past and now. The memory lane will guide us to the American Independent War and appreciate artworks with poems. Three special events composed the MySPAS section: Teachers’ Day, Sports Day, and the National Holiday. Following is a featured section M2 from our very own writers, regarding hip-hop music and movies. Then, the section, Cherish for Life, will discuss those subtle but precious moment in our life. The imagination will publish interesting stories and passionate poetries. Last but not least, the passion section is all about students’ original artworks and photographs. Now, let’s enjoy.
