Mr. Aiello

Mr. Aiello is the principal of SPAS campus. He is strict in students’ daily life, walking around in the hallway and checking whether students wear ID cards and standard uniform. However, after having a conversation with him about the art, the author found out that Mr. Aiello is actually quite kind and friendly when you talk with him, which overturned most people's impression of him.

In this artwork, the green frog is surrounded by blue waves, which look like a scarf. The frog is laughing, and many pink cherry blossoms flying by.

He had only a general plan about the artwork when he began to draw the frog, but the entire plan ran out of control as he continued to draw the rest. The frog became what it became, which I think is full of creativity during the process. During the creation of this artwork, he actually enjoyed the feeling of losing himself in making this picture.

His pictures bring us happiness with a warm tone and active figures. The reason why he drew a frog is that in some countries in Asia, the frog is a symbol of good luck, which is what I think Mr. Aiello wanted to wish to his students.

The reason why Mr. Aiello drew this frog is just because of a simple inspiration that came to his mind. When he is doing art creations, he just wants to get an idea on paper without really overthinking and planning it. Since he needed to plan everything for the daily work routine, he actually enjoys the way a thing suddenly coming to his mind then he catching it and drawing it down, so that it can become art.

Mr. Aiello’s father taught him to draw when he was only 5 or 6 years old, and that organic experience brings him the interest and motivation to draw and thus motivated him to go to college and learn art as the major. He used to make fine sculptures, but now it became just a hobby. He believes that he will not enjoy the art when he needs to keep doing it all the time, which means everything has a limitation to interest.

When Mr. Aiello is drawing, his emotions varies depended on what he is drawing. He feels humor most of the time. He also found it ironic and funny because things just came out from the brain without thinking through it lastly.

Angel

Angel is a 10th grade student in SPAS. She is one of author’s best friend in SPAS, and she is kind and willing to help people when they are in need. Angle loves to hang out with friends in leisure time and plays basketball with friends after school, thus created these humorous pictures.

In the first photo, Angel was taking a selfie with a background of a falling person. She took this picture because she wanted to capture herself in that particular Ski Field, but accidentally included her friend falling into the snow as the background, which is somehow humorous. This picture means a lot to Angel because it was taken with her best friend during the winter vacation.

In the second photo, there’s a basketball hanging on the basketball frame, which is very funny. She took this photo because she has tried a lot of times to take this basketball down with her friends but it is still hanging on the basketball frame, which she thinks is very interesting and unbelievable.

Angel enjoys taking pictures with the camera, and that it can remind her later about these precious memories that she had with her friends. She loves to hang out with friends, during which time she can find out the little happiness hidden inside people’s life. Angel said that these pictures not only represent the happy times she had with friends, but also represent that people can enjoy sports and other activities rather than just focusing on study.

While having an interest in the perspective of art, Angel believes that people can find happiness everywhere in their daily life. Art is the easiest thing to bring people happiness and comfort, she said, and indeed there are many small things that can be easily ignored, but people will find countless amounts of fun inside their daily life if they take notice.

Chloe Wang, a Chinese student at SPAS Campus, loves to take photos and write things about nature and character relationships. She believes that in any relationship, family, and friends, people need to make a concession to keep it continues since it is impossible for two friends to have perfect relationships without argument. Once people truly communicate with each other with the heart, they will have a deeper understanding of the character of their friends. Thus, better relationships are established.

Through looking at these pictures, the photographer’s focused point is on different kinds of flowers and the scene that are taken in the park. She is good at perceiving the small changes that Spring made to nature and how it influences the environment. Meanwhile, she amplifies the colorful flowers and highlights them in comparison with the gray winter that hasn’t been gone totally yet. In the picture, while everything begins to grow up and revive, the world continues its life with another cycle, which perfectly corresponds to the theme, rebirth. Moreover, the blossom flowers are also a signal of the acceptance of challenges, since it indeed takes time for people and things to stand up again and have the courage to restart, but there’s always sunshine and rainbow there waiting for us to enjoy our victory.
